Luxury Real Estate Brokers Alexander Brothers Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Sex Trafficking

Oren, Alon, and Tal Alexander were each sentenced to 30 years in prison in a federal sex trafficking and rape case.

Luxury real estate brokers Oren and Tal Alexander, and their brother Alon, were all sentenced to 30 years in prison in New York City Tuesday, capping off a vast sex trafficking case in which the men were accused of drugging and raping dozens of women.

Attorneys representing twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, and Tal Alexander, 40, requested the mandatory minimum 15-year sentence for their clients, who continued to maintain their innocence, but U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni opted for a harsher penalty, though falling short of prosecutors' request for life imprisonment.

Oren and Tal, former superstar brokers at Douglas Elliman who later co-founded their own real estate firm specializing in high-end properties in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles, were arrested in December 2024 along with Alon, who ran the family's private security company.

The brothers learned their fate in Manhattan federal court after listening to hours of emotional victim impact statements.

"I carry a quiet funeral in me for the person I might have become had this not happened to me," a woman who identified herself by an alias said as she described being raped by Tal in the Hamptons in August 2014. "Every second that Tal raped me in that shower felt like an eternity of terror."

Another survivor told the court that having taken just a few sips of one drink, she was "profoundly incapacitated" as Oren raped her nearly a dozen times, leaving her terrified and in pain, reported NBC News.

"I remember looking at him and seeing a monster, black eyes," said the accuser.

She then addressed the Alexanders directly, telling them: "You are weak, you are inhumane. You never had power and look at you now."

Before Judge Caproni handed down the sentences, the Alexanders were given a chance to speak, reported the Associated Press.

“My brothers and I have never drugged or raped anyone," Oren told the court, after citing his coming of age at the height of hook-up culture. "We never trafficked anyone for sex and we never conspired to hurt anyone."

Tal also denied that he drugged or raped anyone. He asked the judge to send him to same prison as his brothers to make it easier for their aging parents to visit them.

Alon said that not a single woman has accused him of wrongdoing in the eight years he’s been committed to his wife.

Guilty verdicts

Tuesday's sentencing comes seven months after the Alexander siblings were found guilty of 10 criminal counts. During their five-week trial, 11 women testified against the defendants, detailing how the men lured them with invitations to parties and vacations, drugged, and sexually assaulted them.

In a court filing, prosecutors characterized the Alexanders as "serial rapists" and claimed that the trio was responsible for raping or sexually abusing as many as 70 women over more than two decades.

According to a superseding indictment, the wealthy, jet-setting siblings used the "promise of luxury experiences, travel, and accommodations to lure and entice women to locations where they were then forcibly raped or sexually assaulted, sometimes by multiple men."

In March, jurors found all three brothers guilty of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion.

Alon and Tal were also convicted of sex trafficking of a minor, while Alon and Oren were convicted of aggravated sexual abuse by force or intoxicant and sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person.

Additionally, Oren was convicted of sexually exploiting a minor after prosecutors showed the jury a video he recorded of himself appearing to assault a drugged 17-year-old girl in 2009.

Victims testified at trial that they met the brothers on dating apps, at nightclubs, and at parties, and were attacked after accepting their invitations to travel to upscale destinations like Aspen, CO, and the Hamptons.

Before being assaulted, the women said they were plied with cocaine or psychedelic mushrooms.

One woman recounted from the witness stand how she lost control of her body after having a drink with Alon at a New York City nightclub.

When she later came to, she found herself naked in bed with Alon, according to the woman's testimony. When she informed the man that she did not want to have sex with him, Alon allegedly replied: "You already did."

Attorneys for the Alexanders conceded that while the siblings might have been womanizers and were "insensitive" toward the feelings of some women, their sexual encounters were consensual.

"You may find this behavior immoral, but it is not criminal," said Teny Geragos, one of the lawyers representing Oren.

The high-profile sex trafficking case is the subject of a new three-part docuseries, "The Wolves of Real Estate: The Alexander Brothers," which premiered on Peacock TV Sunday.
