Heather Dubrow Reveals Luxury Hotel Room With Cardboard Taped to Windows: ‘Have We Fallen on Hard Times?’

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" star, who is currently renovating two tandem penthouses, had some critiques for the Four Seasons.

As the owner of some of the most recognizable homes on reality television, “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Heather Dubrow knows a thing or two about lavish accommodations.

Which is likely why she was so shocked to be greeted with cardboard-covered windows during a recent stay at a luxury hotel.

In an Oct. 7 social media post, the actress turned Bravolebrity shared a look at the supposed makeshift window treatments in her room.

Heather noted that her famed plastic surgeon husband, Terry Dubrow, had called her into the bedroom to witness the “blackout shades,” at which point she discovered “cardboard and duct tape” attached to the windows.

“This is the Four Seasons Hotel,” she revealed.

In the video, Dubrow quipped that “the room’s a fortune.” Although she did not note which of the two Manhattan locations she was staying at, available online pricing sets the weeknight average rate at $3,337 per night.

The unsightly solution wasn’t the only decor choice Heather took issue with.

“And all of the flowers are fake. I mean, have we fallen on hard times, Four Seasons? I mean, this is no Jeff Leatham situation, I’ll tell you that,” she added, alluding to the longtime artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris.

A second video shows the Dubrows returning to the room later that day, after having attended to a variety of press appearances, to find that the cardboard was still on display.

“I did just get a call from the general manager, who was very nice,” Dubrow explained. “He just said he wanted to give us a free night and that they were gonna come fix this, and that it was an error by an employee and they’re gonna come fix it.”

The “Botched” surgeon seemed pleased with the gesture, adding, “I think it’s very nice. It’s the Four Seasons. They’re nice.”

The couple stepped out of the room once again for a dinner event, which was also attended by HGTV stars Heather El Moussa and Tarek El Moussa, according to an update on the “Selling Sunset” Star’s Instagram Story. When they returned, the cardboard had been replaced with legitimate window treatments.

“Very good,” Dubrow remarked as she panned the camera around the room, adding that “fresh, beautiful flowers,” champagne, and some desserts had been added, as well. The couple praised the hospitality company for its response.

While the comment section quickly filled with questions from users who pondered why the cardboard was ever put there in the first place, one TikTok user Emily Libresco—who previously did “work for the Biden/Harris Administration”—offered a possible explanation in a series of videos shared in response to Dubrow’s saga. Her LinkedIn notes that she was a volunteer Advance Associate for over 5 years.)

Libresco alleged that in instances where “the Secret Service cannot get the bulletproof glass they need to cover up windows,” they use materials such as cardboard to “cover the windows” to indicate that the shades cannot be left up.

However, the cardboard’s purpose remains unconfirmed, with Libresco admitting, “Obviously, I don’t work at the hotel, so I don’t know what happened in this particular situation 100%, but it’s likely, based on my past experiences.”

When the Dubrows are not traveling and calling the Four Seasons home, they reside in an impressive pair of neighboring penthouses in Los Angeles.

In October 2022, they snapped up the first unit for $14 million. In March 2026, they paid $13.75 million for the second residence, which is located on a lower floor.

During the Sept. 17 episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Dubrow shared their plans.

“When we sold the Beverly Hills house, we bought our penthouse, rented another apartment in our building and just thought we’d figure it out,” she said. “When our lease was coming to an end, Terry and I talked about it, and decided we were done with homes. So, I bought the penthouse below us.”

The couple plans to reside across the two sprawling units to create one stately home that will be “a little under 11,000” total square feet. The process will require a significant renovation that Dubrow explained in “The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show.”

“I’m not even combining them. It’s sort of hard to explain … I basically have a private elevator between my two floors,” she said.
