Former Vice President Kamala Harris' $8.15 million Malibu, CA, property was targeted by an alleged trespasser after a woman illegally entered the grounds—prompting authorities to step up patrols around the high-profile home.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff's property at around 10:30 p.m. Friday after the couple's private security team reported a suspicious person.
According to authorities, the unidentified woman was asked to leave the property and initially complied.
However, she later returned, prompting security personnel to contact law enforcement.
Deputies ultimately took a trespassing report, but the woman was not arrested and left voluntarily without further incident, as first reported by TMZ.

A spokesperson for Harris confirmed that neither the former vice president nor Emhoff was home at the time, adding that security personnel intervened before the woman was able to reach the residence itself.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home. Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff were not present. They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” spokesperson Eduardo Negrón said.
The incident comes just months after Harris and Emhoff purchased the sprawling Malibu property for $8.15 million.
Following the trespassing incident, Lt. Jason Duron of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station said deputies would increase patrols around the property as a precaution.
“We’re gonna keep an eye on the location. I’m directing my deputies to keep an eye on it,” Duron said, according to the California Post.

Former vice presidents are typically entitled to Secret Service protection for six months after leaving office.
Before departing the White House, former President Joe Biden extended Harris' protection beyond that period, but Trump terminated the additional coverage effective Sept. 1, 2025.
In addition to her sprawling Malibu abode, Harris also holds the keys to a Hawaii hideaway and was previously seen touring a $20,000-a-month New York City apartment in January 2025—the same month she purchased her $8 million mansion.
Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to Republican candidate Donald Trump and ended her four-year run as vice president on Jan. 20, when J.D. Vance took over the role.
