Jim Carrey Marries Min Ah in Secret L.A. Ceremony—After Retreating to a Quiet Life in Hawaii

The 64-year-old "Ace Ventura" star married Ah in a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles after having relocated to Hawaii.

Jim Carrey has officially tied the knot with longtime love Min Ah, marking a major new chapter for the famously private actor, who has reportedly embraced a secluded lifestyle in Hawaii.

The 64-year-old "Ace Ventura" star married Ah in a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles, with a representative for Carrey confirming the marriage to People.

Further details about the nuptials, including the exact date and venue, have not been publicly revealed.

The marriage comes seven months after Carrey and Ah made a rare public appearance together at the César Awards in Paris in February, where the comedian accepted an honorary award and gave his partner a special shout-out during his speech.

While accepting the honor, Carrey thanked his daughter, Jane, and grandson, Jackson, before referring to Ah as his "sublime companion" and declaring his love for her.

The couple has otherwise kept their romance largely out of the public eye, despite reportedly having been together for several years.

That desire for privacy appears to fit seamlessly with the quieter lifestyle Carrey has cultivated away from Hollywood in recent years.

The "Truman Show" star has reportedly spent significant time in Hawaii, where he has a waterfront residence on Maui that provides a decidedly different backdrop from the Los Angeles lifestyle he maintained for decades.

Insiders have painted a picture of a laid-back existence for the actor on the island, claiming his days are filled with simple pursuits like reading, writing, and taking walks.

Other reports have indicated that Carrey also spends time painting and sketching, hobbies that he has publicly discussed over the years.

Hawaii appears to have offered Carrey the kind of solitude he has previously said he enjoys.

In 2022, the actor revealed that he was "fairly serious" about retiring from acting, explaining that he had become content with the life he had built away from the relentless pace of the entertainment industry.

"I really like my quiet life," he said at the time, while also discussing his love of painting and his spiritual life.

Carrey had spoken about his affinity for solitude even earlier. In 2018, he described his Maui lifestyle as "an isolated life" while explaining that he enjoyed spending time alone.

His move toward a more private existence also coincided with the end of a major chapter in his real estate portfolio: his decadeslong ownership of an impressive Brentwood estate.

Carrey purchased the Los Angeles property for $3.8 million in 1994—the same year his career skyrocketed with the release of "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "The Mask," and "Dumb and Dumber."

Over his roughly three decades of ownership, the 2-acre property became an amenity-packed private retreat.

Built in 1951, the ranch-style residence spans more than 10,000 square feet and features five bedrooms, six fireplaces, an art deco-style movie theater, and a circular sunroom.

The expansive outdoor space is equally impressive, boasting a waterfall swimming pool, tennis court, and guesthouse, along with lush gardens and pathways that wind through the grounds.

The property also features spaces that seemingly complemented Carrey's creative and spiritual interests, including an art gallery and a standalone yoga and meditation pavilion. A wine cellar is among the home's other amenities.

However, after owning the property for nearly 30 years, Carrey decided it was time to move on.

He initially listed the Brentwood estate for $28.9 million in February 2023, revealing at the time that he was no longer spending much time at the property.

Finding a buyer proved to be a lengthy process.

The asking price was subsequently reduced to $26.5 million and then $23.95 million. In May 2024, Carrey lowered the price again to $21.9 million before trimming it to $19.75 million that September.

The home ultimately sold for $17 million.

The sale effectively closed the door on a home Carrey had owned through some of the biggest decades of his Hollywood career, while his Hawaii residence offered him a much more secluded place to spend his time.

Now, Carrey is embarking on another major chapter with Ah.

The marriage marks the actor's third trip down the aisle. He was previously married to Melissa Womer, with whom he shares daughter Jane, from 1987 until 1995.

He later wed his "Dumb and Dumber" co-star Lauren Holly in 1996, though the marriage ended the following year.

Carrey and Ah, meanwhile, have largely managed to keep their relationship away from the spotlight, making their February awards-show appearance a rare glimpse into their life together.

And while the pair chose Los Angeles for their private wedding ceremony, Carrey's reported life in Maui offers a glimpse at the low-key existence the Hollywood star has increasingly embraced after decades in the public eye.
