Tamara Mello, who rose to fame in the late 1990s, has revealed she and her husband are leaving L.A. to move to Florida.

The couple have listed their midcentury modern split-level ranch in for $1.499 million after transforming the property into a sustainability-minded retreat that blends original architectural details with eco-conscious upgrades and a productive backyard garden.
Mello appeared as the snobby high school student Chandler in the 1999 romantic hit, which also featured Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook. Mello and her spouse purchased the property for $1.31 million in November 2021 and have since carried out a number of upgrades.
Rather than modernizing the home through an extensive renovation, however, the couple chose to preserve its midcentury character while tailoring other elements of the dwelling to their lifestyle.
"The owners didn't see a home from the past and reach for the sledgehammer," said agent Learka Bosnak who is co-listing the property with Heather T. Roy, both of the Heather & Learka Team at Douglas Elliman.
"They looked at it through the lens of their sustainability-forward lifestyle and asked why the California split-level ranch has endured as a piece of Southern California mid-century architecture.
"The answer is that people genuinely like to live in them. They embraced the original features, built on what the previous owner had already done, and power-thrifted some extraordinary pieces."

Mello has opened up about their move in a series of TikTok videos, explaining that she and her spouse had originally planned to move to Portland, before pivoting to the Sunshine State. Inside, the residence reflects that philosophy through curated vintage décor and distinctive design details, including a guest room accented with an installation of colorful toy shovels, a dedicated coffee bar, and furnishings sourced through extensive thrifting.
The home's environmentally friendly features continue outside, where solar panels help power the property and an edible landscape offers a variety of homegrown produce.
The backyard includes tiger fig trees, apple trees, and other edible plantings surrounding a swimming pool designed for year-round Southern California living.
Lavender grown on the property is even used to make homemade syrup for poolside cocktails.
Listing agent Roy said the home offers a rare balance between suburban convenience and backyard self-sufficiency.
"What we love about Brasilia is how it holds both realities at once," Roy said. "You are minutes from Whole Foods at the Vineyards in Porter Ranch, and you are also plucking tiger figs from your own tree and eating them poolside.

"For fun, we name cocktails for our listings on social media, and this one came easy," Roy added. "The owners call it the 'Mello Muddle.'
"Tamara makes lavender syrup and keeps it on hand so there are always spritzes by the pool this time of year," he continued.

(Anthony Barcelo) However, having spent years living in Los Angeles, the couple are now making a major move to the Sunshine State, with Mello revealing in a TikTok video that they are relocating in order to be closer to her in-laws, who live in Florida.
She noted that she and Cascardo had already made plans to quit California, but explained that they'd originally set their sights on setting up home in Portland, before pivoting to the East Coast.
"We are moving from Los Angeles to the other side of the country, to Florida, specifically," the actress told her followers in a July clip.
"It was not something I saw coming. Our original plan was to move to Portland, but my husband, Paolo, his parents live in Florida and they're getting older, and they don't have any family there. So we decided, since we were going to move anyway, to sell our house here and go there for a while.
"We'll see how we like it and just kind of travel around, see if there's anywhere we want to live."
She later revealed that the couple plan to visit a wide variety of locations, from St. Augustine to Sarasota in order to see which location might be best suited to their lifestyle.
Mello is the latest in a long line of celebrities to exit California, joining the likes of Dennis Quaid, who recently moved full time to Nashville, "Avengers" star Chris Evans, and Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey.
