A Homesteader’s Dream: This 386-Acre Sporting Retreat Uses Transformed Grain Silos as Living Quarters

Explore a 386-acre Washington ranch with grain silo living quarters, a 1-mile shooting range, walk-in gun vault, and water rights.

An enormous 386.1-acre "recreational retreat" with four transformed grain silos and shooting areas has just hit the market near Odessa, WA, for $895,000.

"The seller is the original owner, and this was a piece of property that he built for his family and friends to recreate," says listing agent Jason Hall of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Mann Realty. "It isn't stocked now, but he stocked the pond with fish."

Known as Steel Ranch, the property was custom-designed for anyone seeking "wide-open space and a getaway unlike the typical cabin."

"You can shoot 1-mile long-range target practice, and it also has a pistol range," Hall says. "There are also short-range targets."

Four grain silos were transformed in 2022 into unique living quarters with entertaining spaces and loft-style sleeping quarters.

One of the silos has a garage door offering extra storage space for recreational gear and equipment.

"They gave it a freshening up over the summer," notes Hall.

While the property could be used for a multitude of purposes, including a weekend getaway, it has the charm and character of a "private hunting lodge," with a walk-in gun vault located in one of the silos.

"It could also be transformed into a private gun or hunting club, or it might work well as an RV resort," Hall says. "It would also be a great homesteader's property, a game farm, or sporting clays."

In addition to shooting on the property, there are plenty of opportunities to fish in the private pond or hunt across the acreage.

Domestic and irrigation wells, along with water rights for a 10-acre food plot, offer "added valuable flexibility for wildlife and land management."

Gravel roads throughout the ranch provide easy access across the property.
